About Us

The Podia Clinic

IAN IS A PODIATRIST WITH OVER 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, the last 23 years based in his own business here in southwick.   Prior to Southwick Ian worked in multidiscipline clinics in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

At Podia-Clinic Ian provides usual podiatry services of nail cutting, callus removal and nail surgery. In addition Ian draws on his special interest in rehabilitation of the low leg, foot and ankle, providing musculoskeletal rehabilitation treatments.  These treatments include joint mobilisation, Neurospecific stimulation, functional assessments and exercise approaches,  fascial manipulation, biomechanical assessment, gait analysis, and orthotic provision

Work

Ian’s particular interest in post injury rehabilitation led him to writing and providing training courses for podiatrists in the area of low leg, foot and ankle injuries. His professional body, the Royal College of Podiatry (RCoP), afforded these an approval for extended scope of practice, meaning both private and NHS podiatrists could used in them.

Ian has been involved in exploring and developing new approaches that may benefit foot and ankle injury recovery.  These include a stimulus to the special sensors in the  foot which may help relax post injury or surgery muscle tension, even years after injury or surgery.  Additionally, in 2016, Ian trained in Fascial Manipulation Stecco Method.  Fascia is a tissue in the body, injury to which can have profound affects upon how well we move and undertake every day tasks. He has since gained the RCoP approval status for Podiatrists to work in this area as well.

Personal

We are very proud parents and grandparents. Family is important to us and we adore doing activities with them, or, just being with them. We enjoy simple times with good friends over a wine and a meal, or, coffee and cake.

Ian always enjoys being near woods and rivers. He also loves travel, learning about other cultures and their ways of life. Going to theatre is certainly up there in things to do, unfortunately not as often as he would like.

Enjoying even simple things in life requires we are able to keep moving.  Keeping mobile is crucial to our health and deeply disappointing when this is affected.  That’s why I do what I do….to help keep you moving.

 Professional

Ian’s Professional Body is the Royal College of Podiatry.  He is further registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (CH16604).  Registration with the HCPC requires the individual to have appropriate educational training, to conforms with the professional standards it has laid out and to prove a portfolio of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) demonstrating maintenance  of skills and ensures  that  patients continue to benefit from their practitioners learning.
